Bank of Valletta announced that it will be giving its backing to Cliff Zammit Stevens, who will be organising his 9th solo concert on the 16th September 2017 at Pjazza Teatru Rjal in Valletta.

This was announced during a brief visit paid by Mr Charles Azzopardi, BOV Executive PR & Marketing to Pjazza Teatru Rjal, where Cliff is busy rehearsing with the Animae Gospel Choir, his special guests for this year’s concert.

Charles Azzopardi said, “It is of great satisfaction to witness Cliff Zammit Stevens, a highly talented tenor, who we have been following since he was merely a student participating in the Mini-Gigs over a decade ago. Back then, these young artists and musicians visited village squares unannounced to perform classical pieces.” Speaking of Cliff’s progress, Mr Azzopardi said that the young tenor has worked hard, with passion and drive, organising, almost single-handedly these annual concerts, whilst studying and performing abroad. “Cliff, who is also a scholar of the BOV Joseph Calleja Foundation, has grown his followership over the past years, through his diligence and perseverance, commendable skills that will serve him well as he grows in his artistic career.”

The London-based tenor returns to Malta after a very busy year that saw him performing concerts and operas across Europe. His appearances included Le Nozze di Figaro at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, touring I Capuleti e i Montecchi across the U.K. and headlining Malta’s EU presidency concert in Berlin. Whilst in Malta, he has also performed at the American Embassy and San Anton Palace.

“Music is a universal language that knows no barriers. This is the reason why I invited the Animae Gospel Choir, a vocal ensemble based in Malta and featuring some of the finest talent on the islands, to join me. I am truly humbled and thrilled to feature this choir as my special guest this year,” commented Cliff Zammit Stevens. “Thus, this year’s concert represents diverse musical genres that blend together harmoniously.”

Speaking about their participation, Christian Borg, Manager and keyboardist of the Animae Gospel Choir explained, “The Choir which knows its origin in 2008, presently features 21 gospel singer-troupe members. True to its name, the Choir focuses on ‘soul’ music that is spiritual and promotes positivity. We are very excited about some of the numbers we shall be performing with the MPO. The very suggestive backdrop of the Teatru Rjal will also contribute to a truly unique experience, where the audience will truly feel part of the musical experience.”
