SCHOLAR DESCRIPTION

Daphne Delicata started piano studies at the age of 4. She showed exceptional talent from an early age, achieving the ARSM Diploma in Piano Performance at age 10, followed by the LTCL Diploma at 11.

At age 10, she won an Ibla Foundation scholarship for the Summer Programme at Lamont School of Music, University of Denver, USA, where she worked with Stephanie Cheng. At 11, Daphne gave her first solo recital at the Palace of the President of Malta, and also made her orchestral début, performing Mozart's A Major Concerto K414 in Milan, Italy and with the Kostroma Symphony Orchestra in Russia.

She has won more than 20 awards in international competitions, including Distinction in the first JeuneChopin International Youth Piano Competition in Switzerland in 2018, chaired by Martha Argerich. In 2019, she gave a solo recital at New York’s Carnegie Hall as first-degree laureate in the Debut International Piano Competition. Other performances in 2019 included Rome, Vienna, the UK and the Teatru Manoel. In September 2023, Daphne was awarded first prize and Chopin prize at Malta’s Bice Mizzi Vassallo Competition, performing in Warsaw Poland in 2024.

In 2019, Daphne auditioned successfully for the Yehudi Menuhin School in the UK, where she studied for two years with Marcel Baudet. She recently attended the Schola Cantorum in Paris for masterclasses with Maurizio Moretti, a protégé of Aldo Ciccolini. Daphne is currently reading a BMus. Tripos at the University of Cambridge in the UK.
